A Day To Catch Up & Osama Bin Laden Is Dead! (PA) “DAY 301” – 5/1/11

May 3, 2011 - 3:16 pm - (PA) “DAY 301” - Week 44 - State 41

After two days of doing everything I could (while having a great time), I knew today I had to bunker down and get some writing done.  Hey, that’s part of the journey, getting it written and published before I get to far behind. 😉

So, I woke up in the guest room in Matt’s house and before I did anything else, I took out my laptop and got to writing.  Then, after I got done writing, I wrote some more.  And when I got done with that... I wrote some more.  You get the picture. 😉

Lunch & Dinner With The Family
The only thing I did today other than write was have lunch and dinner with Matt and his family.  And to be honest, I didn’t even have lunch with them. (Renee was nice enough enough to make me a sandwich but I didn’t get to eating it until at 5 pm.)  Thank you! 🙂

But, when dinner rolled around (6 pm-ish), I was hungry and ready to eat. (All I had ate the entire day was just the one turkey sandwich.)  So, I sat with the family at the dining room table ate a bunch of tacos. (I must have been hungry because I ate 5 of them.)  Mmmm! 🙂

A Donation On My Windshield
Sometime during the day I went out to my car to get something when I saw a $10 bill under my windshield wiper.  People are so cool!

I’m still not sure who gave it to me, but I know it was either somebody from the bond fire last night or one of the cows in the field.  Huh?  So I thanked one the cows and walked back inside. 😉

Back To Writing/Posting
After eating a great dinner, I went back up to the guest room where I spent the rest of the night uploading pictures from my Friday post. (I uploaded over 80 pictures and the since my picture connection wasn’t working fast, it took me over 3 hours to finish it.)

Then, sometime before Matt went to bed for the night, he stopped up in the room and gave me a present.  Really???  After everything he has done for me, he even got me a Pirates t-shirt to take with me when I leave.

Now, I am aware that the Pirate logo does devalue the actual shirt that the logo was printed on, but none-the-less, it’s the thought that counts.  So, thank you Matt! 😉 LOL

Osama Bin Laden Is Dead!
I had just finished writing/posting my “DAY 299” when I looked up at the Mets game (which was ESPN) and saw a line scroll across the bottom that said Osama Bin Laden was dead.  Wow!

I then changed the station to a bunch of different news networks and saw all the reports flying into every newsroom.  Shocked by the news, I didn’t continue writing any further as I all I did was watch station after station’s report about what had transpired.

President Obama Speaks
Like I said, what else could actually be on my mind as I am a American who grew up right outside of New York City.  So, once I heard the President was gonna speak to the nation, I had to stay tuned to see what he had to say.

I’m not political at all so I don’t care if it was a democrat (Obama) or republican (Bush) in office when we got this evil terrorist, but I can say that Obama’s speech was classy, informative, and well spoken. (He is a great speaker whether you like him or not.)

Reflecting On This Monumental Event In American History
Given the gravity of the event, I just sat there in my room for the rest of the night thinking about all the American people who were personally affected by this military mission and the feelings they must be having as they announce Bin Laden’d death.

I hope for all the people who lost loved ones to any one of this terrorist's actions, that they now have a sense of peace, justice, and closure.

And, I’m aware that killing this maniac will never bring back family and friends lost, but maybe, just maybe, the Americans affected can take some solace in the fact that justice has been served. (Or at least as much justice as we can serve.)

Bottom line, I’m not the type of guy who will be yelling up and own the street that Osama Bin Laden is dead, but I am happy his evil is gone from the earth.  More importantly, I am glad the people who were directly affected by his actions hopefully got some closure. (Left: WVU last night, from Daily Athenaeum.)

And lastly, now that I have traveled this great nation from coast to coast and everywhere in between, the one thing I can say for certain, without a second of hesitation is... This is the Best Country in the world and I Love America from Sea to Shining Sea! 🙂

Thanks for reading!
