A Family Day With The Wulf’s! (NC) “DAY 267” – 3/28/11

March 29, 2011 - 2:11 pm - (NC) “DAY 267” - Week 39 - State 35

I woke up this morning around 9 am (early for me) and went downstairs to say good-bye to Wulf before he went to work. (He works in medical sales or something.)  After he left, I stayed downstairs for a little bit and hung out with his kids (Jake & Ava).

Like I’ve said before, I don’t really know what to do when I’m around kids, so after a few minutes I went back upstairs to the rec room so I could catch up on my writing.

Writing All Day
From the time I woke up until the time the time Wulf got home from work (around 4 pm), I just sat upstairs and posted my “DAY 266”.  Also, during that time, I ate lunch, talked on the phone with friends, and looked over my fantasy baseball team.

Hanging With The Neighbors
When Wulf got home from work, he and his kids went for a bike/motorized truck ride throughout the neighborhood.  When they got back (about 20 minutes later) there were a bunch more people with them.

I’ve met his neighbor Charles or as Wulf calls him “The Admiral” (another Wulf nickname that’s held), but everybody else who was outside I met for the first time.  All his neighbors were nice but with 6 or 7 kids running around asking questions, I have no idea how anybody can concentrate on anything. 😉

A Funny Ava Moment (Wulf’s Daughter)
As I was walking back in the house from meeting the neighbors, I saw Ava lying on the brick stairs crying.  I immediately rushed over to her, picked her up, and asked her if she was OK and why she was crying?

She looked at me with tears coming down her face and said,"They wouldn’t give me any candy." (Mind you, I have been here under a day and have seen her cry over candy a few times already.)

So, I responded to her, “ Ava, you’ve already ate a bunch of candy today, so why are crying over candy again?”  She looked at me as sincere as she could possibly be and said in her little southern drawl, “Because BeerStien I love candy!”  Seriously, what is funnier than that! LOL 🙂

Dinner With The Wulf’s
For the second time in three days, I am having filet mignon for dinner.  Woo Hoo! (I haven’t a good steak in months and now between dinner at Scott’s and Wulf’s, I’ll have had one for dinner 2 out of my last 3 nights.)  In my opinion, there’s no better meal. 🙂

Anyway, the five of us sat down at the dinner table and talked about whatever.  I tell ya... Wulf’s great personality has rubbed off on both of his kids as they are two funny little clones of their Dad (personality wise).

The Rest Of The Evening
After we ate dinner and the kids went to bed, Robin, Wulf, and I played a Ms. Pac-Man II tournament. (They have a video game with 60 old school games on it in the rec room.)  Nice!

I didn’t know it, but I still have some serious Ms. Pac-Man moves left from my childhood gaming days.  I beat both Robin and Eric multiple times in a row as I can make it to the 3rd or 4th Junior drop-off point. (We weren’t going for score but my high score was 96,000-ish.)

Now, I’m not a complete gamer as my Donkey Kong skills were weak at best, but when it came to Ms. Pac-Man II... I still got it! 🙂 (Little Wulf is the King of Kong Jr.!)

That’s About It
By the time we were finished playing and watching TV it was close to midnight, so Robin and Wulf went to bed as I stayed up a little longer working on my laptop.  It was then that something amazing happened!

A Late Night Donation Comes In
As I was thumbing through my emails, I noticed a donation had come in.  There was note attached saying how proud the person was of me because I was doing something unique, special, and with passion.

It then said that since I have come so far, they wanted to lend me a hand by donating $200 in order to help make sure I finish!  The last last thing it said was not to mention their names as they wanted to remain anonymous.

Well... what do I say to a donation that big with such a positive and encouraging note except... Thank You So Much!  I truly appreciate it and will be forever grateful! 🙂  I can't say enough how amazing the people of this great nation are!  F.Y.I. - This donation did not come from a family member.

After receiving the donation, I called the person and talked them personally for a little while before I called it night and went to bed in Jake’s room. (He’s sleeping in his sisters room for the week so I can have a bed.)  Thanks Jake! ~ After today, 98 days left!

Thanks for reading!

Great pictures, good recap. I like the nickname the Admiral. Does Wulf know what you call me?
