A Newspaper Interview & Playing Poker! (PA) “DAY 203” – 5/3/11

May 5, 2011 - 12:33 pm - (PA) “DAY 303” - Week 45 - State 41

I’ve said already this this week, but I’ll say it again.  It’s nice waking up in a king size bed with a gorgeous view of Matt’s farm these past few days. (It is very serene and relaxing.)  Nice! 🙂

After getting up and taking in the farm, Matt stopped home from work so he could eat lunch and say hi to me. (Maybe it was just for lunch.) 😉 Anyway, while he was home, he re-reminded about an interview he set up for me with his newspaper, the Observer-Reporter.

F.Y.I. - Although Matt works in the advertising side of the newspaper, he told one of the journalists about what I was doing and they (she) wanted to interview me for a story.  Thanks Matt!

Panara Bread
The interview Matt set up for me was scheduled to take place at a Panara Bread in Wash-paw (2 pm).  I got there on time and after looking around the restaurant for a minute or two, a lady walked up to me and asked me if I was Rooster.

Talking With Denise For Awhile
I could go into everything I talked with her (Denise) about, but basically it was a complete run-down of my entire journey.  I started with the inception of the idea and then told her stories that lead me right up to where I was sitting. (Which was with her getting interviewed for a newspaper article.)

Anyway, Denise was a really nice lady and by the time I was done talking, I felt like we had made a connection.  Thanks for taking the time to speak with me and I appreciate the support! 🙂 (I’m not exactly sure when the story will run, but it won’t be this week.)

Writing At Starbucks
After Denise and I said our good-byes, I headed next door (basically) to a Starbucks to write and post my “DAY 302”.   I stayed there for a hour or two and when I was done, I put a Rooster card on there free information board.  Hey, my site is free and I’m not selling anything.

Matt’s House For Dinner
Every night that I have stayed Matt’s house (about 6 days total now), Matt’s wife Renee has made everybody dinner.  The thing is, she works, takes care of Liam (Matt does too), and then still finds time to cook every night for her family.

Not to mention, every dinner she had made has been good and I’m a picky eater.  I guess what I’m getting at is... Thank you so much Renee, I have enjoyed and appreciated every meal! 🙂

Taking A Nap Before I Hit The Casino
I don’t why I was so tired, but after dinner was finished I headed up to the guest room to take a nap.  And I must have been even more tired than I thought because I stayed asleep for over two hours.

Then, when I woke up, the first thing I saw was that Francisco Liriano had just thrown a no-hitter.  Nice, baseball history.  Now that I was refreshed and wide awake, I left Matt’s house and headed to the Meadows Racetrack & Casino (15 minutes away).

The Meadows Poker Room
The poker room here at the Meadows is real nice and as I explained when I was here Easter weekend, I love all the Steeler memorabilia they have placed around the poker tables and when you first enter the room.  I’m in Steeler Country Now and I love it!

Playing 1-2 NL
I was hoping to get into a limit game but the only limit game they had running was 2-4. (I don’t like playing 2-4 limit because they is no poker skill involved as everybody just calls down the river with whatever 2 cards they have.)

So, with that as my only limit option, I sat down into a 1-2 NL game and bought in for $140. (I did play 2-4 for a few hands while a seat opened up.)  Anyway, I would love to tell you that I won a bunch of money but that didn’t happen tonight.

Tonight, I lost $100 by bleeding $2, $7, and $12 bets at a time.  If I didn’t know better, I’d a thought I was playing with Uno cards in my hand because none of my hole cards every hit the flop!  Nothing!  My cards were coming up so opposite that I don’t think I even saw one turn that wasn’t checked to get there.

Losing Another $100 Somehow... Damn! Ahhhh!
During the course of my poker night which lasted from 10 pm - 2:30 am, I somehow lost another $100.  No really, I lost it!  Not at gambling, but lost!  Ahhhh! (This is first money I have misplaced all year long.) Damn! 🙁

I don’t know what happened but I got to the casino with $360 in my wallet and when I cashed the remaining $40 I had on the table at the cashier’s cage, I checked my wallet again and only had one $100 bill in there.  Frantically, I looked everywhere, but it was gone!  Ahhhh!

Sleeping It Off
I was so depressed I can’t even begin to explain it.  So, all I’ll say is that I when I got back to Matt’s house I couldn’t wait to lay my head down and fall asleep.  I just needed to wake up tomorrow and forget this whole outing happened.

F.Y.I. - Mentally I don’t mind losing a $100 playing poker, that happens.  But the $100 I just misplaced... is killing me!  (Right: That's how I feel right now.)  🙁

Thanks for reading!

Didn’t you loose a bag in California, with money in it. I don’t remember where in California but I do recall you loosing some kind of bagwith like 200 or 250 in it. Only reason why I mention it because you said this is first money you lost in trip. Maby you found this bag and I don’t remember that part od the story. Just checking?

You are right Mike, but the bag was more stolen than lost. I knew where it was, but it was gone when I got back. So, I guess, half lost-half stolen.

This is why I think you lie about things I took the liberty to go back and review the post about the bag you lost or as you say now was

    Here are your words

When I was about halfway through, Steve called me to tell the bad news… my bag wasn’t anywhere in his place! Ahhhhh! I must have left it on the street by my car last night while I was grabbing some things! Damn!

F.Y.I. – In that bag was all my underwear, socks, belts, my favorite sweatpants, a Nike jacket I wear all the time, MY YANKEE SWEATSHIRT, as well as $200!!!

Unf$ckingbelievable! It’s the first thing I have lost on this trip! This sucks so bad… I don’t even have clean underwear to pz

not once in that post did you mention something was stolen. If you left a bag on the street in california thats your bad and it wasnt stolen. You lost it point blank. why do you always try and twist stuff around. In the post where you talk about the bag why didnt you say you thought it was stolen then. You cant own up to loosing it. Its funny im starting to think you are a compulsive liar or something. Shit does not add up with you. And here is a perfect example of what I am talking about for everyone to read.

Why is so hard for you to be truthful. If you can lie about dumb things like this, this is the reason i think you are not telling the truth about other things on your trip

  4. dave says:

Like I wrote, I either left it at Steve’s or I left it outside my car on the street. I knew my two options. That’s why it wasn’t totally lost in my opinion. I knew my options. With the $100 from this week… I can’t begin to even to tell you where it could be. That’s why it’s totally lost to me.

As for the bag, since it had to be outside my car and it was gone when I got back… somebody took it. There wasn’t a sign on that said please take me. I didn’t call it stolen for that’s a harsh word for some drunk guy (probably) who stumbled upon a bag and took it. That’s my opinion on it in hind site.

I’m not a liar and truthfully…. I really don’t car what you think of me anyway. I know who I am and anybody who knows me, knows who I am. And by the way… you do have the option not read my site… nobody is forcing you… either enjoy it or not but you do have that choice.

Mike seems to be living through your life Rooster. Maybe he should get one of his own!!!!
Have a great day and Happy Mother’s Day to all
    the Mom’s.

Sorry about the hundo! That’s the way I feel if I lose just $10 at a casino… I walk out of there feeling gutshot! I’m just not a gambler, I guess! But it sucks that you lost it with no possibility of winning. That sucks and I’m sorry, bro!

What REALLY stuck out to me from this post is:

“and when I was done, I put a Rooster card on there free information board. Hey, my site is free and I’m not selling anything.”

And you’re also PAYING to have a website, and spending your personal time updating it, day in and day out. If I were to do the same thing I think the website updates would last MAYBE a week. You’ve got a lot more staying power then I do!

    Enjoy!
    Ryan
