A Regular Sun Burned Monday In Fort Myers! (FL) “DAY 239” – 2/28/11

March 1, 2011 - 5:00 pm - (FL) “DAY 239” - Week 35 - State 32

Today is 4th day since I pulled something in my lower back and I still feel it.  It’s not nearly as bad as it was Friday, but none-the-less... it’s still tight and weak.  Not good. 🙁

Even though my back was stiff as a board (get your mind out of the gutter ;)), I decided to walk a few blocks to a Hospice that was nearby to see if I could do some charity work there while I’m in town.

Hospice
When I arrived at the hospice, I went to the front desk and asked if I could volunteer there.  The lady I spoke to was nice but she said it was at least a 2 week long process before I would be approved to help out.  Since, it didn’t work it, I just said thank you and left.

Pat’s Complex
Pat lives in a really nice complex where there are a few lakes, nicely manicured landscapes, as well as palm trees.  It makes you feel like you are in tropical paradise.

But at the same time, you are reminded that you are in swamp land as well when you see the sign that reads... beware of alligators!  I know the odds of there being an alligator in this small pond is minimal but I’m sure they have seen them on this property before.

Writing All Day
It was a gorgeous day out and I was planning on writing at the pool so I could fill in my modified farmers tan but... after thinking about, I decided to write on Pat’s back porch instead.  (It is perfectly positioned so the sun will hit me directly from noon - 3 pm, plus nobody has to see my ridiculously uneven burnt skin.)

Well... my plan worked as I did get the parts of my body red that weren’t but what also happened was... the skin was already red got much redder and started hurting!  Ahhh!  I didn’t think this through that well. 😉

CVS For Aloe
I was hurting so bad that at about 6 pm I left Pat’s to go get some aloe.  The nearest place was CVS, so after running in to get some burn relief, I applied some aloe to my already deep fried skin right there in the parking lot.  Oooo!  That feels good! 🙂 (The crazy thing is, my face didn't get burned at all, huh?)

Back To Pat’s For The Night

Now, not only does my back hurt but I’m sun burned as well.  I feel like I’m in a “Meet The Fockers” movie as things keep compounding on me that I cause to myself. Except... it’s not as funny! 😉

For the rest of the night, Pat and I just watched TV except for when I gave him his 2nd present I got him during this trip.  What was it you ask?  I got him football cards while I was at the Super Bowl in Dallas.  It wasn’t anything big but I knew Pat would like it and he did.  🙂

Other than that, I ate some food, messed around on my laptop, and continued watching TV as I rested my back and aloe’d up my burns.  Man, I’m a mess!  That’s all I did.  See ya tomorrow. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

I can’t believe you are in Florida. Remember when you were in Seattle. You couldn’t get more far away. Good work Dave!

Nice to see you got aloe for the burn. I wrote yesterday’s comment before I read this story today.
Father and son think alike, sometimes.
I know you saw another game today. I look forward to tomorrow;s read.
