Did I find a Date? Read and find out… (DE) “DAY 6” – Part 1 & 2 – 7/10/10

July 10, 2010 (DE) 6:55pm “DAY 6” - Part 1

Today has been a cluster f%$K since the minute I woke up.  As you may know, all I wanted to do today was go out and try to find a date for tonight.  That’s it... pretty simple.  Fail or succeed it didn’t matter, just that I gave a valiant effort.

Let me tell you what happened. I woke up at 2 pm, I know it’s late but I went to bed at 8:30am so cut me some slack...I didn’t even get 6 hrs when I’m used to 8-10 hours a night.  Remember, I haven’t ever really worked and I don’t have kids.

John's Backyard View

So I woke up and checked my emails to see that there was a glitch in last night’s post.  Last night was the only time this week I used John’s house computer instead of my MacBook and that’s where the problem arose.  He had his computer set to some funky format and I didn’t realize it or know how to change it after the fact.

So basically, I had to re-write my post again this morning.  Well... my morning. 🙂  John doesn’t have wifi so I had to go to Starbucks down the street.  After getting lost for 20 minutes... thanks you GPS, I finally reposted “DAY 5” after another hour of work.

I can’t believe this trip is work, I thought it would be a long vacation filled with adventures... and it is but it is also a lot of work.

Back to the story, my bad.  After that, I needed to get a hair cut if I was to find a date for later which was rapidly approaching at this point.  So I drove around in circles again til I found a nice barber shop.  I walked in and it was $25 for a hair cut.

Needless to say, I walked out.  I have never gotten a date cause of my hair cut and $25 (plus tip) wasn’t the price I was looking for.

As I was walking to my car I noticed a TGIF’s.  I looked at my phone and saw it was 4:15.  Now, I used to work at TGIF’S many years ago and know that shift change is at 4:45pm so I figured maybe I could get a date with a hot bartender who is just getting off her day shift.

I entered like a wild boar doing... whatever wild boar’s do.  Seriously, I walked in and there she was eating a salad getting ready to leave for the day.  A real hot girl with big blue eyes and soft brown hair.  She was sitting, but I think she night have been taller than me too.  Very hot!

I started to tell her what I was doing and that I needed a date for tonight.  She responded that she had a boyfriend, so either she was smart or she was telling me the truth 😉 .  She was real hot, so I’m sure she was dating somebody.  I gave her a card, forgot to take her picture (damn!) and headed out the door cause I still had to get a haircut and it was already 4:30 by now.

After going back to John’s for a minute, I headed back out to find the all elusive hair cut.  I drove around again for 20 minutes looking for a place that I saw on the drive back from the casino last night.

Eventually I found it and I’m glad I did... it was the right price - $6.99!  Woo Hoo!  A $7 hair cut is exactly what I was looking for.  It was a sale that started today and i was glad to have found it cause as it turned out I got at least a $25 hair cut.  Antonla, the lady who cut my hair did a great job and I

Antona, Me "Rooster"

would go back if I was staying in the area but as we know I’m off to Alexandria, Virginia on Sunday.

At this point it’s 5:45 pm and I haven’t even showered yet so I headed back to John’s.

Which brings me to right now, I haven’t even really done anything yet and it’s already 7:23 pm.

How I am gonna find a date for tonight when it’s already tonight?  I think this week I’m going stag.  Virginia women look out... cause next week I’m at least gonna fail 20 times before I can’t find a date for Saturday night.  (Hopefully, I succeed on the 1st attempt! 🙂 )

So I just the called the casino to put my name on the list for poker tonight.  That’s another cool thing about Delaware Park, you can call ahead to put your name on the list.

The bad part, cause there always is.  There is already a 143 person list for 1-2 NL limit tonight.  Unreal!  It’s the official grand opening today of their poker room today and they have a pro in town to play with all the locals.  Plus, they said the live horse racing helps  draw in a huge crowd.

So here I am wondering what I’m gonna do.  Go out, get drunk, and try to meet a cool local girl (which will cost me money) or go to the casino and wait for hours before I play poker (in an attempt to make more money) ?

Huh?  I guess we’ll see cause I’m not sure yet.

I wrote part 2 last night but I couldn't find an internet signal and I wasn't gonna use John's computer again.  So here I am at Starbucks to post the rest of "DAY 6", it's July 11, 2010 - 3:27 pm.  To the left is a picture of me and Kristian, he works there.

The answer is... dun dun dun.  I went out and got drunk! (well, had a few drinks)

John and Me "Rooster"

After I got finished writing, John text me and asked me what I was doing.  I told him I wasn’t sure and he said he’d be home in 20 minutes.  Since I had didn’t have a date and poker seemed improbable, I waited for John and the family to get home.

When John got home, he was all fired up from the pro soccer game he had just attended (he sat in the owner’s box, free beer

etc...).  After a small discussion, we decided it would be cool if we went out for the night and had a few drinks together.  A couple old college buddies having a night on the town.  He asked his wife and she said OK, so it was on. Thanks Sara!

Iron Hills Bike something or other...Cities Biggest Event - (although it happened in PA)

John and decided to go to West Chester, PA (20 min from Delaware) and check out the end of a bicycle event that had been going on there all day.  We arrived near the end of it to see the medals being awarded.  It was a cool scene.

As we were deciding which bar to go to I saw a burger joint that needed to be checked out.  To me, it just looked like it would have good food.  And it did! Fresh cut fries and burgers made with anything you wanted on it.

Oh yeah, I found $5 on the floor.  Into the donation kitty you go!  Thank you stranger who lost their money. 🙂

After the burger display, we went to few bars in the area and relived a little of the old days.  John is happily married with 3 great kids, I tell you this because our mind sets are totally different these days.  He looks at everybody as his daughter or a possible yoga client.  It’s crazy how being with one person for 8 years can ruin your ability to be smooth. 🙂

Let me explain, it wasn’t that I wanted or expected John to talk to girls but when I finally do, don’t ask them how their relationship is with their father? Or are you sure you wanna another drink, you look pretty drunk? You get the picture, a fatherly figure.  John has obviously matured at a different rate than I did. 🙂

None-the-less, we had a great time.  John is still a lot fun to hang out with and I’m not just saying that because he and his family have been so nice to me this week.  I say it because it’s true, John is a awesome dude that I’m lucky to call a friend!

Anyway, after bouncing around to a few bars we decided to call it a night and head back to John’s.  This is where Roostertime begins!

As we were almost at our car in the parking garage I noticed a real pretty girl who looked frustrated and confused.  I started up a conversation with her (Lynn) and she told us that she couldn’t find her car.  She looked like somebody who could use some help and a pretty girl is somebody I will always help out.

So I asked her if she wanted a ride in our car to find hers’.  Ya know, drive her around the garage til she found her ride.  After deducing we weren’t serial killers she gladly accepted as we drove around the garage looking for a black Lexus.

We all got in the car and started the search.  I call it a search cause we drove through the garage (levels 2-6) at least 2 times trying to find her car.  I finally asked her if she was sure it was in this garage and after a few seconds of thought... she realized she parked in a different garage a few blocks away.

To me, this was funny.  To John, he was worried if she could drive home and if when she got their she had a good family life. lol

She actually wasn’t that drunk, she said she always parks in the garage we searched through and just got mixed up.  It happens, I lose my keys everyday!

Lynn and Me "Rooster"

When we finally arrived at her car, I asked her if she would take a picture with me to put on my website.  She agreed and got real close to me for the picture.  I immediately picked up on the sign and asked her if she wanted to go to lunch tomorrow.  She agreed and we exchanged numbers.  Nice!  But lunch! ... I know... What are you doing Right NOW???... should have been my response!  Damn! Missed opportunity. I’m leaving for Virginia tomorrow, what am I worried about lunch for? Duh!

She then gave me another hug and a nice kiss (without tongue) before she got into her car and left.

She seemed like a real cool girl and she was pretty.  We’ll find out tomorrow if she actually does wanna hang out for a mini-date, my guess... is no , my opportunity was last night, but we’ll see. (Since I'm posting this on July 11, 2010, 3:45pm , I was right , last night was my shot!  No mini-date.  This last sentence is the only writing I added to this post.)

Either way, I had a great time and look forward to continuing my journey in the morning!

Thank you for reading week 1 !

  3. Jeremy says:

What are you doing behind the counter at Starbucks?

  4. Adam says:

Dave…the mini-date consisted of you and John driving her around the garage. For purposes of this trip, any encounter that last longer than 5 minutes, includes a picture and a kiss at the end is a date in my book…you’re batting 1.000 so far!

  5. dave says:

Thanks Ad. That will be the new criteria! 🙂 lol

Dave – I have to say, you’ve kept me thoroughly entertained for the last week!! I look forward to your posts each day and am happy to see that you are up so far!! Keep up the great efforts! Interested to see how well you do in finding home/private games in VA since there are no casinos there. . .

As for the missing computer, take it as a compliment! The kids were trying to tell you that they enjoyed your visit and didn’t want you to leave!!!

    Take care!!!!!!
