How Did I Deal With My Hangover? (VA) “DAY 10” – 7/14/10

July 15, 2010 - 5:41 am - (VA) “DAY 10”

It’s 5:41 am and I just got home from the casino.  Yes... I went to the casino already :), but we’ll get to that later in the story.

I'm dying!

If you read “DAY 9”, you would know I got up this morning (8am) hung over after doing to many shots and singing way to many songs.  I had to, in order to write my post for all of you to read. (Thanks for reading! :))

Anyway, by the time I had finished writing, Kim had gotten home from work (noon).  She was hungry and hung over as well, so we went to grab lunch at a Chinese restaurant.  The food was good but I could barely eat for fear of seeing it again in 20 minutes, this was the unfortunate reality I was dealing with. 🙁

Fitness

It was around 1pm when Kim and I got back to her place.  My plan was to go for a run and try to sweat out the hate, what happened was... I laid down on my bed and fell asleep for 4 hours.

When I woke up, Kim told me the softball game I was suppose to play in was canceled because the field was still wet from the monsoon the day before.  It was at this point that I had to make a decision...

Do I go work out, eat a healthy dinner, and then get a good night sleep... Or .... Do I pack up the Rooster mobile and head for the casino in Charles Town, West Virginia?

This is a easy one.  Since I already lost 14 lbs and needed a day of rest, I decided to go to work and try to build an empire!  Or maybe it ‘s because I’m lazy and needed to gamble.  Either way I went to the casino! 🙂

POKER

Hollywood Casino (WV) is 70 miles from where I’m staying in Alexandria, VA.   I called the poker room before I left, but nobody answered.  At this casino, the poker room is only open from 8pm -4am, Monday thru Thursday, 3pm -4am Fri.- Sun..  I did speak with an operator who said there would be waiting list to play but that I would be able to get on a table.  So I left at 7:30pm and arrived shortly after 9pm.

When I got to the board (area where you sign up for poker), the list play was already over a 100 names long!  F%$K!  I just drove almost 2 hours, now I’m gonna have wait 3 more just to get on a table, and then the poker room closes at 4am.  At this point, I’m saying to myself... Why did I come here? Am I even gonna get to play?

I put my name down for a few different games hoping I would get in one of them before midnight, which would give me 4 hours of cards (plenty of time).

Bobby, Me "Rooster", Mel

While I waited, I met a bunch of cool guys who were in the same position as me...  waiting to play poker.  We told stories and laughed until all of us eventually got called into a game.

I got called after 3 hours but it wasn’t the 1-2 NL game I have been playing, it was for a 10-20 (Texas Hold’em) limit game.  I bought in for $300 and won my first hand with Q 7 off suit.  (I had to post ($10), so I was forced into the hand.)  I took down a $70 pot.

$1 is better than no dollar!

The night was off to a good start.  Seated next to me was a guy named Tai, he was interested in my journey and we talked for a while.  When he got up to leave he said he would follow my trip and donated $1. ( Hey, every dollar helps!) Thanks Tai!

Around 2:30 am some big country dude waked over to me and said “You’re Rooster!”, I looked up at him slightly confused, wondering how he knew my name.  (I found out later a guy I was talking to earlier told him about me.)

Rooster... Than who am I?

Anyway, he said he was “Rooster”... cause he either killed, fought, or molested roosters (J.K), I don’t know... I didn’t want to ask to many questions.  😉  He was a nice guy and allowed me to take a picture of him, “The Original Rooster”.  He also had a rooster card protector, it was super cool! I need one of them.

Throughout the night, I didn’t get any real good cards but I also never got any second best hands. (Meaning, you play to the river (last card) and lose with the 2cd best hand).

Basically, when I played a hand... I won!  The little victories added up and when I got up to leave I was plus $437.  Well.. $438 with Tai’s donation.  My best night yet, woo hoo!

I racked up my chips and headed to the cashier's window at 3:20 am.  When I got there, there was a line a mile long.  Only one teller was working...  Are you kidding me!

This is the line!

After a 45 minute wait, I finally cashed out and headed back to Virginia.

So here I am, it’s now 6:45 am and I still have to add all the pictures to the story... I am so tired!  (F.Y.I. - I just finished with the pics... 7:57 am)

Today, I plan on working out and getting a tan. (Tan fat always looks better than white fat! :))  Also, I have another softball game to play in and tomorrow I have to be up at 8am in order to get to my charity work on time (Fri., 9am -12pm, serving breakfast to the homeless).

Man, I’m busy for a guy without a job!

Thanks for reading!
