I wore a Yankee’s jersey in Philly… Did I survive? (DE) “Day 3” – 7/7/10

July 7, 2010 - 2pm - (Delaware) “Day 3”

John was awake making coffee at 6:30am when our days intersected. He was waking up... I was about to go to sleep  After confirming plans for the baseball game at 7pm ( Philly vs. Atl.), John suggested I go sleep in the upstairs bedroom. It was the right call for a good night’s sleep, it was the wrong call to make a Noon hot yoga class.

So obviously, I never made it to hot yoga today but at least I got to sleep through the night/day.

So for now, I guess I have to do a workout on my own. It’s 100 degrees out but I’m gonna go run my love handles away anyway!  Hmmm... There seems to be a trend going on here... hot yoga, hot running, hopefully next is HOT GIRLS!

Fat and sweaty but not for long!

July 7, 2010 - 4pm - (DE) “Day 3”

It’s brutal out there!  I decided to run in this huge open field that is kinda circled like a high school track.  It’s so hot out there, did I already say that? 🙂  I’m still sweating so much, it’s almost sad...  OK it is sad! 🙁  I’m fat. 🙁

Oh yeah, this was kinda funny.  As I started to jog, the first thing I saw was a deer (doe) and I

Deer staring at me

wasn’t sure if she was friendly or not so I approached her slowly...  As I got near, she started to move toward me, that was a little disturbing.  Aren’t deer suppose to be afraid of us?  Still, I pressed forward, I needed a good pic.  I got to about 30 feet from the deer then it moved onto the make shift track right in front me.  I moved closer as the she started to run on the track ahead of me, it a was a pacer! lol  Anyway, as I got close it took off into the field and

Deer Prancing

pranced away.

It was a cool experience and luckily she wasn’t an angry deer or that would have been an interesting battle... Rooster vs. Deer .. tonight on Pay-Per View!

July 8, 2010 - (DE) 7:57am

Philly’s vs. Braves

After the run and unexpected deer encounter, I got ready for my first ever Phillies game. John has a season ticket package so he invited me and his Father-in-Law to the game.  Philly

Citizens Bank Ball Park

is only 30 minutes away so it’s not a far drive.

Anyway, we arrived at Citizens Bank Ball Park and as we approached I got to see the old Philadelphia Spectrum, the old baseball park, and Eagles stadium.  It’s cool how all the teams play right next to each other.

Now, I’m aware that Philly has the roughest fans (they say) in the country.  So I had to put it to the test...  I wore one of my Yankee jersey’s to the game (A-Rod’s).  I wore A-Rod’s incase people threw beer on me, I can handle a ruined A-Rod jersey, my Jeter jersey on the other hand would not have been acceptable.

Me and Me

Funny enough, that was the only heckler I encounter until the Braves scored 6 runs in the 6th inning and took the lead.  After that it was if I had a sign on my back that said the Yanks beat you guys in the world series last year!

If I was ten years younger and dumber there would have definitely been a fight in the stands. You can only take so much shit from a guy who weighs 100 lbs soaking wet but I have matured (kinda) and realized I WAS wearing Yankee colors in a see of red, so to make it out unscathed except for few words was more than acceptable.

Our seats were 25 rows from the field on the 3rd base side halfway between the infield and outfield wall. We were sitting where the ball boy in the outfield would be except in Philly is isn’t a ball boy, but a hot ball girl, yes a hot ball girl (Amanda, her name was on the back of her jersey).

Hottest Ball Girl in MLB!

After deciding my angle,  I walked down to the field (in between innings), past thousands of Phillies fans wearing Yankee colors and asked Amanda to take a picture with me.   After commenting negatively on my A-Rod jersey, she obliged!  She started to walk away when I realized I didn’t even give her a card so she could check out the site. Damn!

So, a few innings later I went back down to the field and talked with her for a bit.  She was

Rich, Me "Rooster", John

real cool and seemed interested in my journey.  I handed her a card (one with my cell number on it 😉 ) and told her I would be putting her picture up on my website titled “The hottest ball girl in MLB”.  So there it is Amanda, hit me up if your looking for a good time! I’m not busy for.... the next year or so! 🙂

We stayed for the whole game as their beloved Phillies fell 7-5 to the Atlanta Braves.

We (John and I) got back from the game around 11pm and sat on his porch for a hour so and shot the shit.  It’s great talking with John J., it like talking to Coach, A.K.A. “The Dragon Slayer” (from Survivor) except Johnny is feel cool.  What I’m saying is, John is physically, spiritually, and mentally in tune with everything but when he speaks to you he doesn’t sound crazy, he’s a normal dude! John was falling asleep in front me and had to be up early for work so he called it a night and headed to bed.

Now it’s poker time! So I changed my cloths into comfortable poker wear then gathered up all my stuff, (wallet, phone, camera, vado - it’s a hand held video camera, business cards, chap stick, Tums,) it’s a lot a shit, huh?... I walked out to my car and realized I couldn’t find my keys. F%$K! It took me about 20 minutes before I realized they we locked in John’s car and didn’t know where his keys were.  It had already been 45 minutes since he went to bed, I couldn’t wake him so there is no poker on Day 3.

That’s why I’m awake at 8am, I had to make sure I got my keys out of John’s car before he left for work.

Today will be filled with poker, I’ll be playing all day except for the time it takes me to do my charity work later for the homeless of Wilmington and the hot yoga class I have at noon! Damn you hot yoga!

Wish me luck!

Be careful out there, man – running outside on a day like yesterday is rough. Hit the treadmill myself, but I think that the A/C at my gym was broken – I think that it might have actually been cooler outside with the breeze!

Re: Hot Yoga – several years ago, I was doing the Bikram thing 3X a week (WAS, because about two weeks after I started, Madonna announced that SHE was doing it and every Bikram studio got totally jammed; it wasn’t as much fun to do in supercrowded classes). If you stick with it, it does get easier.

Anyway, good luck with this! I’ll definitely be following along. And you’ll get back in shape – hell, if I could get in shape after a lifetime spent out of shape, you can definitely get it back!
