Less Than 30 Days Left & I’m Struggling! (MA-CT) “DAY 337” – 6/6/11

May 7, 2011 - 9:17 am - (MA-CT) “DAY 337” - Week 49 - State 46

When I woke up this morning at Johnny’s place I knew I was leaving today for my next state.  But, what I didn’t know was that I was gonna change my mind and go to Connecticut instead of Rhode Island.  I’ll explain that later in the post though.

Writing All Morning
From the moment I woke up on Johnny’s couch at 7 am the only thing I did was get to writing my posts from the weekend and even before that. (I had a bunch of posts to catch up on.)

While I was writing Johnny was getting ready for work and when it was time for him to leave, he told me I could stay as long as I needed to.  All he said was to make sure I lock the door behind me when I hit the road.  Thank you so much Johnny, Be good and stay in touch my man! 🙂

Deciding Where To Go
Now, as I was packing up to leave, my original plan was to go to the next state over which is Rhode Island and spend a week there.  But, after checking my finances and sending out the minimum payments on most of my credit cards I realized that I’m almost broke. (I have $200 left after getting gas today.)  Ahhh!

So, knowing I don’t have enough money to make it 2 more weeks because I don’t have anywhere to stay, I decided to go to Connecticut instead of Rhode Island this week so I can play poker in the casinos they have there (Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun).  Maybe I can make it happen.?

Traveling To Foxwoods In Connecticut
The ride from the Boston area to Foxwoods wasn’t that far as it took just a little over two hours to get there.  Not bad at all.  So, since I left Johnny’s around 1 pm, I made it to Foxwoods just after 3 pm.  Now I have to make it happen or I’ll be broke by the end of the day.

The Poker Room
I usually have a lot pictures of every poker room I have played in but since I was so focused on the task at hand (a must win), I forgot to take pictures of the scenery in the poker room here at Foxwoods.  My bad.  But, I will say that it was nice and they had a bunch of tables going.

4-8 Limit Hold’em
When I got to the poker room I decided to play 4-8 limit Hold’em instead of 1-2 NL Hold’em because I’m basically playing with my net worth and since I don’t want to be forced into a decision for all the money I have, I played limit poker today.

I wish I had a great story to write where I could tell you I won the Bad Beat Jackpot and now have $250,000 to my name but that only happens to James Woods (the actor) who hit the Bad Beat jackpot in this room the other day for a quarter million dollars.

Yes, that’s a true story! (He lost with 4 aces to a straight flush and took home 50% of $500,000+.)  Seriously, like he needs it, but as they always say, the rich get richer and the poor (me) don’t get a f*%king thing! 🙁

Since I’m not gonna get into every hand I played in a limit game, I’ll just get to the bottom line... I played for about 3 hours and when I got up to take a break, I was dead even on my session.  It’s better than losing but I really needed to win!

Playing In $80 Tournament
After walking around the casino for awhile (this place is big and confusing), I found out there was $80 NL Hold’em Turbo tournament starting at 8 pm.  Now, I know that tournaments are a long short because you’re up against a lot of people and only a few get paid, but I need a miracle to continue and this might be the way.

The need to knows: $80 buy-in, 46 people entered, 8,000 in starting chips, 15 minutes blinds, no re-buys, no add-ons, and the top 6 got paid.  Got it?  Good.

How I Did
I can honestly say that I played real good poker but with just 2 tables left I called a real loose player’s All In (I knew he was loose because I played with him for a few hours).

Well... this time he actually had a hand and it was just a little better than mine. (I had pocket 10’s and he pocket Jacks.)  I still could have flopped a 10 or hit a straight, but I didn’t and was knocked out of the tournament in 18th place.  Damn!

F.Y.I. - I normally wouldn’t have called an All In with pocket 10’s when I had as many chips as I did (about 16K), but I thought I had a read on this guy. Obviously I was wrong and got eliminated. 🙁

Now What To Do???
At this point in the evening it’s after 11 pm and since I don’t have a room here I have to figure out where I’m gonna sleep tonight. (I tried to get a comped room but it was to no avail. They didn’t even hear me out before they said no.)  Ahhhh!

Writing In The Food Court
By the time midnight rolled around, I had finally come to realize that I was homeless again tonight and with just $120 to my name, I don’t have many options.  Not to mention, I haven’t eaten anything at all today because food is just to expensive.

So, even though I didn’t want to pay $10 for a burger and fries, I went to the food court to eat which is when I found out that they had free Wi-Fi in this area of the casino.  Nice!   Knowing this, I didn’t order any food and walked back to my car to grab my laptop so I could get work done. (I did the burger later.) 😉

Sleeping In The Hotel Lobby, Kinda
After I got done writing in the food court I walked around the casino until I found somewhere I though I could get a few Zzzz’s.  The problem... casino security won’t let you sleep on the premises so every 10 minutes from 2 am until 5:30 am, the same security guard kept walking over to me and waking me up.  Ahhh!  Really! 🙁

Well, I could keep writing but this kinda moves into my next day which I’ll write for you tomorrow.  But, what I will write is that this trip almost over and it’s not because there is less than 30 days left, it’s because I’m as broke as I have been all year long and don’t know how I can make it another 25+ days with just over $100.  Damn! 🙁

Thanks for reading!
