Could My New Roommates Be Any Cooler!? (OH) “DAY 18” – 7/22/10

July, 23. 2010 - 9:51 am - (OH) “DAY 18” -

When I woke up this morning I was still so happy that I had a place to stay for the week :).   And I was also hungover again!  I’ve been drunk more times in the past 18 days than I have been in the last 2 1/2 years.  That’s the truth!

While I was at college Kean U. (last 2 1/2 yrs), I decided not to get drunk or go out much.  I wanted to get good grades and make school my priority.  It worked... Summa Cum Laude (3.93 GPA)!  Anyway, it was that time off that is making me pay now for drinking like a college kid again!  But it’s fun! 🙂

So the first thing I did yesterday (after I wrote “DAY 17”) was go to a bar/restaurant called “Roosters” with Matt and Pratt (2 pm - new roommates).   When we arrived there it was kinda like a Hooters except instead of Hooter girls... there was Rooster girls!  Nice!

Me "Rooster" at Rooster's!

We ordered a bunch of food (wings, burgers, fries) and while we waited I asked the girls to take a picture with the “Real Rooster”.  (Although the old redneck form Charles Town Casino might argue he’s the real “Rooster” "DAY 10")

Anyway, Rooster’s was a cool place but there should be a life size picture of me in all their restaurants!  Just a suggestion ;).

After we had lunch, Matt and I went back to the place, Pratt went somewhere.  As soon as we walked in, Matt went to play video games (Modern Warfare?) and I hit the couch and crashed hard!

Blurry pic- used my phone

I woke up about 2 hours later when Pratt came home and gave me a present.  Yes, Pratt who I just met and is already letting me stay in his place got me a present!  He realized I needed a digital camera (cause he saw me using my shitty phone to take and upload pictures from) and on his own, decided to get me one from his parents house.

Pratt came home because Matt and him were going to pick up a new TV from Matt’s Dad’s house.  Supposedly, it was a huge TV that would change viewing in their place forever.

I was still so tired, I could barely open my eyes to thank him and after they left I fell right back asleep until 7pm.  The cool thing was... they were both leaving and it would be the first time they left me alone in their place, so what did they do?  They took one of their keys off their key ring and gave it to me!  How awesome!

When I woke up, they weren’t back yet so I decided to go for a run.  I haven’t worked out since I almost died in Virginia and knew I needed to get back on track.  So I walked down the street where I found a school that had a track.

I didn’t realize it but I must have been in the ghetto cause the school was protected in metal  bars everywhere.  The windows, the doors, and even the openings to the field where the track was.

I like running on a a track, it helps me push myself a little farther every time so I decided to hop the fence and run there anyway.  Nothing crazy happened except I ran 2 1/2 miles straight without feeling like I was gonna die.  I’m getting in better shape.  Nice!

My Ohio Roommates Rule!

I ate some before the pic was taken! 🙂

I got back to the place and took a shower, when I got out Matt and Pratt were back with a humongous TV (70 inches).  Not only did they have a TV but while they were at Matt's Dad’s place, he (Matt’s Dad) made them dinner.  Matt was so thoughtful and cool that he brought me back a plate of homemade smoked pork ribs and mashed potatoes.

Come on... these guys are to much! 🙂

I didn’t have time to eat the ribs yet because we had to move the new TV in.  For them it was a exciting moment, X-BOX gaming has just been moved to a movie screen!  It should be like they are actually in the video game now :).

The TV was huge so it took all three of us to move it in.  After setting up the TV and marveling at it for a bit, Matt and I went to his cousin’s place (Ryan) to have a few drinks.   Ryan’s a cool guy and it seems like he has the party place for all his friends to chill at.

Ryan and Me "Rooster"

We got to Ryan’s around 10 pm and hung out for a few hours.  We played video games, drank a little, and planned on starting a bond fire in the backyard.  Matt was as tired as me luckily so we decided to bounce around midnight.

On the way home we stopped at a grocery store so we could get Pratt Coca-Cola (coke).  I had to put Coca-Cola instead of just Coke... heck I am on a college campus, Coke could mean a lot of things...

I also purchased a bunch of stuff for the place (Gatorade water, fruit,etc.).  I tell you this because I used one of my credit cards for this purchase instead of my cash flow.  It was around $70 and I wanted to buy some stuff for the guys but didn’t want to deplete my cash so... you understand.

Anyway, when we got back, it was around 1 am and I was still tired even though I got a long nap in.  None-the-less, we hung out and watched Gordon Ramsey’s show “Hell Kitchen” again (A different episode).

And again... all of us were yelling at the screen... “It’s Raw! ... “Nice job on the scallops, yes.” ... “Come here.., you Donkey!”

I went to bed downstairs on the couch around 3am.  I prefer a couch to a bed for some reason, I really do, just ask Buck (my old roommate) :)!

Charity Work

Friday, I hope to find a place to do volunteer work for.  I have contacted a lot of places but none of them have returned my call yet.  I’m gonna have to find the location and just head down there to see what’s up.

I drove around a little looking for the place (underground card club) but I couldn’t find it.  I think I saw a place it could have been.  The windows were covered by curtains and it looked like there was light coming from a back room.  I couldn’t tell, I have to do more research on it.

Thanks for reading!

Dude! That is awesome — restores my faith in humanity. Can I be happy for you and envious at the same time?

Matt and Pratt — I am assuming you guys are reading this and are gonna follow Rooster’s journey. Spread the word about Rooster.

In the words of Jim Rome — this is EPIC!!!

I think the Rooster following will grow with each day on this journey…but only ONE person could say FIRST!!! That’s me!

Keep the good vibes going, Dave and everyone else on the way!
